Canva Acquire Pexels and Pixabay to Launch ‘Netflix’ of Stock Photography

by Alex W.

Canva is pretty much the best free online design tool available. It allows you to import photos (either from your hard-drive or from other places around the internet), edit them, and add text and other design elements to them.

The result is an editor that can be used to create posters for marketing, social media, or pretty much anything else. In fact, we use Canva ourselves for our Click and Learn Photography Pinterest account.

Now, Canva are expanding their arsenal. They recently announced that they have acquired stock image websites Pexels and Pixabay, giving Canva creators access to an additional 1 million images, videos, and illustrations from 120,000 separate creators.

This will already be a huge boost for designers using Canva, but they haven’t stopped there either.

They are also launching a brand new service called Photos Unlimited. They have dubbed this as the Netflix of stock photography. In essence, Photos Unlimited will be a monthly subscription service that gives users unlimited access to millions of stock images.

Whether you’re uploaded your images to Pexels or Pixabay, or you just use Canva for your designing work, it’s certainly big news in the stock photography world.

Also, after their new acquisitions, Canva is now valued at over $1 billion!
