The journey is far from over for Click and Learn Photography, but at the time of writing over 200,000 unique users have visited and benefited from Click and Learn Photography, and it’s thanks to these people (and you!) that Alex has been able to sink a significant portion of his time into writing this book.

When he’s not writing at his desk, you can find Alex exploring his local landscape in the Lake District, UK  or planning his next photographic adventure.

Introduction

The popularity of landscape photography grows with every passing year. At the time of writing, there are approximately 24.5 million images on Instagram with #landscapephotography attached.

Is it any surprise? Of course not.

As more and more of the developed world find themselves cooped up indoors for most of their working life, the appeal of returning to nature grows stronger. Advancing technology means we want to capture every moment of these adventures, and the ever-popular social media platforms bring nature’s beauty into the spotlight. This, in turn, inspires the masses to get out there and experience it for themselves, and so the cycle continues…

You might have followed a similar trajectory yourself, or maybe your interest in landscape photography was piqued by one of the countless other routes into this pastime.

However you got to this point, I’m assuming you’re here because you want to learn more about the craft of landscape photography.

That’s what this book is for – It will take you through all the gear a landscape photographer might need, help you plan a shoot with the help of some apps and tools, walk you through camera settings and how to use them to your advantage, talk about composition, and eventually return to the digital darkroom to process your images.

We’re going to assume a rudimentary knowledge of photography here, so if you’re not familiar with the basics head over to our Tutorial section and get up to speed.

It’s a long read, so grab yourself a drink and get settled in.
